FAQ

Who is Lourdes Physician Group?

Lourdes Physician Group is Our Lady of Lourdes RMC’s group of outpatient physician offices. It allows for current, former, and future patients to have an option for seeing a physician that is part of an organization they can trust.

Are Lourdes Physician Group services covered by Medicare and/or my insurance plan?

Lourdes Physician Group accepts Medicare and is a preferred provider for many regional and national health insurance plans. If your insurance benefit requires a co-pay amount, this amount will be due at the time of service. Be sure to check with your insurance provider and know your benefits prior to seeking care. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, call (337) 470-GoMD (4663).

Are there advantages to seeing a nurse practitioner?

A nurse practitioner (NP) has extensive nursing experience in addition to advanced clinical training. Most patients find NPs to be extremely helpful, compassionate patient advocates who often spend extra time explaining medical conditions and treatment options in a way that is easier for patients to understand. Medicare and most insurance companies recognize NPs as healthcare providers, and some offer a special fee schedule for NP services.

How soon can I get an appointment?

Lourdes Physician Group is committed to helping you receive the attention you deserve and the services you need from a practitioner who really cares. With locations throughout Acadiana, we can find a doctor or nurse close to you, with whom you can build a relationship focused on long-term, preventative health. In some cases, same-day and next-day appointments are available. Call (337) 470-GoMD (4663) to learn more.

What can a primary care doctor do for my family?

Primary care means basic health care provided by a skilled practitioner. Primary care practitioners include family doctors, general practitioners, internal medicine doctors, nurse practitioners, and other health care professionals able to offer treatment for everyday illnesses and chronic conditions, perform routine physicals, give immunizations, and provide a wide range of other health services. Lourdes Physician Group connects you with a primary care doctor or nurse practitioner to meet your family's immediate and long-term health needs.

Who will I receive my bill from?

Your bill for services will come from our sister facility, Lake Physician Group out of Baton Rouge.

Will I see a doctor or a nurse practitioner?

Depending on your health concern, you may see a primary care, internal medicine or specialty physician or a nurse practitioner (NP). Physicians and NPs are trained to diagnose, treat and manage acute and chronic diseases, order and interpret lab and diagnostic tests and prescribe medications. NPs and physicians collaborate to provide comprehensive healthcare services. As a patient, you always have a choice when it comes to selecting your healthcare team.
